The bachelor thesis expands the architectural project created in the framework of the subject AG35 in the spring semester on a level of a Building permit documentation and a Documentation for execution of the project. The theme of the task is a new building of a concert hall with the defined land on the Údolní street in Brno, in front of the park Obilní trh. Surrounding historical buildings from the 19th century strictly follows the street line. But that line was broken at the defined land by the impact of a bomb in World War II. On a neighbouring plot, the created space was filled by a building of regional ombudsman, which doesn’t follow the street line anymore. So its continuing isn’t required on the defined land neither. Sloping terrain influenced whole concept, which consist in implanting the building into terrain, so that followed surrounding terrain and connect park Obilní trh with park Špilberk through walk-on roof surface with vegetation and a newly build park in front of the concert hall. The building is divided into two parts from exterior. The first one is a polygon and it is mostly under terrain. A small surface of façade above a terrain is largely created by glass curtain wall supplemented by white stucco. Here is located a main entrance and a foyer, a main concert hall, a café, rehearsal rooms, an exercise studio, an atelier, changing rooms and technical facilities of whole building. While the second rectangular part, in which is situated small concert hall on the second floor, is as if levitating block overlapping over a volume of the first floor and it is garnished by structural panels from glass fiber reinforced concrete. The cladding goes to the ground in the southeast corner of the block and there are panels with inscription “hudební klub” or specific name of the concert hall instead of the structural panels.

A case study on public diplomacy and nation branding - the Czech center in New York City

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the success of the Czech Center in New York in public diplomacy and nation branding. The thesis is divided into 5 parts and a conclusion. The main objective of the thesis was to find out the mission of the Czech Center and then to follow this up with research on whether it is successful in its activities. The thesis notes the development of the Czech Centers in general and the specifics of center in New York, then discusses the economic situation. Mainly the thesis notes what the most important activities of the centre are. I worked with sources from the Czech Centrers directly (interviews with the Director General of the Czech Centres and the Director of the Czech Center in New York), as well as with professional literature or news reports. A large part of the work also consists of research. There I found out from both Czech and American respondents what they would like to see in at a Czech Center. Then, by comparing these results with other information found, I can say whether the Czech Center in New York is effective and add short recommendations for their communication.

Violin Concertos by J. Sibelius and B. Bartok No. 2 - interpretations of Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova

This diploma thesis is focused on comparison of performance styles of three
world class violinists – Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova. This
comparison is achieved by a detailed analysis of interpretation of two selected
violin concertos of different characteristics. From individual details we shall
conclude overall violin performance characteristics of individual violinists.
The thesis consists of three chapters. The first one deals with brief
autobiography of the composers and violinists. The topic of the second chapter is
a comparison of actual interpretation of violin concert by Jean Sibelius, the third
one compares the interpretation of Bartok’s second violin concert.

LIVE - music, image, emotions

I personally love to watch LIVE concerts. The goal of LIVE watching is to be in place and at times outside space and time. To feel to be present.
As a spectator I try to experience the story of music. As a creator I look for possibilities I have and can use. The goal is to point out the possibility to change the view on the genre with which every one of us meets as a spectator or as creator.
I will always be influenced by my personal opinions, experience and preferences. The thesis points out the different possibilities how to understand term LIVE. Different rules and methods of processing formal as well as artistic. The audience will be recommended where and how LIVE should be meaningfully watched, thus determining the end viewer himself.
Specific ways and possibilities of production allow a wide variety of processing of the resulting work. However, the creators should follow the principles and rules of filming without compromise, otherwise the quality of the result can be negatively affected.
Thesis was written thank to consultations with specialists in the field, who very positively formed the result. From my musical taste and preferences in musical genres I've chosen the examples which could be pointed as average. Therefore this thesis should be understandable for the widest circle of readers.
